Brian Ayers
Account Executive
Brian
Ayers brings years of journalism experience to Leslie Kline Lukas & Associates,
where he utilizes his communication and analytical skills to deliver results for
his clients. As an Account Executive with the firm, Mr. Ayers specializes as a
writer. He creates written materials for internal and external communications
for his clients and leverages his background and relationships with the media to
secure placements.
Since joining Leslie Kline Lukas & Associates in July 2007, Mr. Ayers has
developed internal and external publications, reports and case studies for an
international consulting firm that serves the water, energy, information and
government sectors; created external publications to secure media placements for
a national wireless provider, which has included the creation of new messaging
around the company’s brand; has placed columns and articles written for a
leading private university in the Midwest in a multitude of industry
publications; and has delivered media share for a local fitness and weight loss
center, placing articles, columns and television guest spots in the local media.
In his multiple roles with Leslie Kline Lukas & Associates, Mr. Ayers has
responsibilities in marketing, including the creation of physical and electronic
marketing brochures and strategies. Additionally, his background as a published
writer in the state’s largest daily newspaper, the
Omaha World-Herald, enables Mr. Ayers
to assist in media training activities with the company. He also provides and
conducts public opinion research.
Before joining Leslie Kline Lukas & Associates, Mr. Ayers served as a writer and
copy editor for daily and weekly newspapers in Nebraska and spent two years as a writer and
copy editor in a corporate setting.
Mr. Ayers’ accomplishments include:

Serving as a staff writer and copy editor for the
Omaha World-Herald, Nebraska’s largest
newspaper. He has written more than 300 articles, and continues to
contribute to the publication’s sports section on a freelance basis. Mr.
Ayers covered several sports, created story ideas, assisted with editing and
writing in the sports department and trained new part-time employees.

Covering Nebraska Cornhusker football for the
Grand Island Independent, Nebraska’s third
largest daily newspaper. Mr. Ayers has covered Nebraska football since 2007 for the
Independent, attending all home games, and nearly every road game on a
freelance basis, often writing two stories a week during the football
season. He has contracted with the Independent since 2005, also covering the
Nebraska
high school state track meet, wrestling meet and volleyball tournament
annually.

Excelling as the sports editor for the
Gretna
Breeze, Papillion Times/La Vista Sun and
Springfield
Monitor. Mr. Ayers managed the sports section for the three weekly
newspapers in Sarpy
County. His
responsibilities included all the writing, photography and page design for
each publication. He wrote approximately 15 stories a week, developed media
contacts throughout the coverage area and helped build the company’s
subscription-based market penetration in its coverage area. In 2005, he won
first-place awards from the Nebraska Press Association for best feature
story, as well as best feature photo in the
Papillion Times’ circulation division.

Providing distinguished editorial leadership as a
business editor, copy editor and in quality assurance for
infoUSA, an international, publicly traded company.
His quality assurance duties included verifying facts and evaluating the
content of business descriptions written by business editors based in India. As a
copy editor, Mr. Ayers edited business descriptions in accordance with
Associated Press style. His business editor duties included identifying and
researching the defining characteristics of companies to write a business
profile geared to generate sales leads.
Mr. Ayers received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Creighton University
in December 2003 and served as the Sports Editor of the Creightonian, the campus’ weekly student newspaper his senior year.
He also was a student employee for the university’s Sports Information
Department from 2000 to 2003.
