problem-solver and fund-raising counsel, Mr. Kline offers clients strategies for success. As President and
Senior Fund Development Counsel at
Leslie Kline Lukas & Associates, Mr. Kline works directly with clients to
provide solid planning and execution for communication and resource development
challenges. Among his achievements on behalf of clients:
- Provided
calm and effective communication counsel to clients facing news media
crisis
situations, defusing issues that threatened to harm their reputations.
- Served as project manager on numerous capital
campaign feasibility studies.
- Directed a year-long needs assessment research project
for a non-profit organization that serves a population of more than 250,000
people. The project included a telephone survey, a mail survey and a series
of focus groups.
- Prepared
successful grant applications, including one that had to be written with less
than two weeks’ notice before the application
deadline.
- Developed
communication strategies that helped a major university achieve national
visibility and set enrollment and fund raising records.

Created
a national magazine that won top awards for communication excellence from
a national professional association.
- Provided
media relations counsel to a candidate in a heated race for the U.S. House
of Representatives.
- Planned
and implemented numerous special events including the inauguration of the
president of a national university.
- Trained
senior executives and company spokespeople to achieve optimum results from
news media interviews.
As a reporter, Mr. Kline covered two Democratic
National Conventions and numerous other national stories for the world’s
largest wire service.
In addition to his experience as a daily newspaper
and wire service reporter, Mr. Kline spent eight years as executive director of
Creighton
University’s department of public relations and information. There he led teams to
excellence in media relations, publications, events management and special
projects.
Active in the community, Mr. Kline has served on the
boards of several organizations. He was president of Downtown Omaha Inc.,
supervising the organization’s strategic planning process. He is a member of
the Omaha Press Club board of directors, and served in 2007 as the Press Club
Board President. Mr. Kline received top honors from the Nebraska Chapter of the
Public Relations Society of America for the
Creighton
University 125th Anniversary campus celebration/Master Plan rollout, and Awards of
Excellence twice for magazine creation and publication. He was named Journalist
of the Year by Sigma Delta Chi-Nebraska, and has received the
United Way of the Midlands Spirit of Volunteerism Award. Mr.
Kline also has received the Distinguished Staff Service award from
Creighton
University.
A graduate of
Luther
College, Mr. Kline has received certification from Creighton’s Foundations of
Effective Management program.
